I’m a photography student in Jersey City, New Jersey. My work consists mainly of portraits with extreme detail to color and light. I love intimacy in portraits and exploring the way color and light falls on the human body. The body is a natural canvas for it and I try to document all the aesthetic qualities it can show. for a personal series about my connection with tattoos, i created a series of portraits of tattooist in a close and personal with them. i find the tattooist  face never to be connected with the work, i wanted them to be seen as a person not as a piece of work on someones thigh or arm as they never truely see their face!

My name is Xhanti Jafta (22years) from a small town in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. I’m currently studying Media but found out midway throughout my Degree that I should have been studying film, fortunately for me there are a few film modules offered at my institution but I’d rather have a Degree in Film and not just media…So my aunt bought me an HD camcorder, that’s when I started photography because I wanted to brush up my directing skills, if you may. It has been one of the best decisions of my life so far. I know I do have what it takes to become a quality photographer my country has ever seen just that i’m tired of waiting for when that day will finally come. The only problem I have with this is that no one is paying attention to what I’m doing and I’ve been putting in a lot of effort into it, now it feels like its  for nothing. Time is running out and impatience is a human trait so I can’t fight it for long.
