My name is Jonny Jelinek, I’m the founder of a social media agency and a passionate hobby photographer, living in Vienna. Plus, since the start of my project “Life in my Sink” I would also call myself an aspiring abstract artist.
I’ve already discovered the beauty in my sink about three years ago, when I saw the work of a photographer who did amazing and mind blowing pictures of coliding water drops. It was extremely inspiring seeing those freezed moments, which are to fast for the human eye. So I started my first photo project called “A.Drop.Life” where I took about 30.000 shots with my Nikon D100 that I got from my dad, and some of them came out really wonderful. For some reason I didn’t put in much energy into getting them “out there”. So after losing the project out of sight for more than three years (although I saw my sink each day, but with different eyes), I wanted to take part in instagram’s weekend hashtag project #WHPreflection and suddenly the photos of my sink came to my mind. So I took a first quick shot with my Smartphone, as with Tumblr, Instagram & Co, this became my main camera. What I didn’t expect though, is seeing a totally new world. The Universe in my sink had evolved…
So, I invite those of you haven’t checked out my blog immediately, I invite you to follow me into a world with scenes that your eyes won’t believe. But let me say it with the words of one of my favorite Tumblr artists Erin O’malley, about his own work: “my images are not digitally manipulated, almost everything is in camera, so, what you see in my photos actually existed for a short period of time in a very small form”. Same goes for all of my pictures.
