Tim Hollister, 29 years old, currently residing in Newcastle, NSW, Australia. I’ve been taking photos as a past time for as long as I can remember but only really paying it any real attention for the last couple of years.
Most of my online presence is built from travel photos from the very different places I was lucky enough to see last year and also have a camera on hand. They’re my personal favourites, so it’s always a compliment when other people comment that they find something they like in the photos too.
The medium I enjoy most is 35mm film. It seems that most film photos tend to come back just as you remember the scene, person, place or landscape. I’ve experimented with 120 and digital but I think film tends to portray a scene, person or place in its most real state; a perfect way to convey a memory to a friend, a token of a place visited or a time passed.
I’ve experimented with different combinations of cameras / types of film but as an everyday choice and especially for travel I always seem to come back to a Canon AE-1 and Portra film combination. Not taking anything away from other combinations or brands, but that’s what works for me.
