Kings of the Sky

My name is Rachel Gouk. I’m a self-taught photographer from Malaysia, currently based in Shanghai. I see myself as a street and travel photographer, capturing scenes and faces in the moment, for in which a second longer would be no more.

The best and perhaps hardest aspect of street photography is stepping away from telephoto lenses and talking to the people you meet, like these butchers for example. I’m a big fan of the outdoors and often get myself into amateur landscape photography.

I’m the senior feature editor for travel and lifestyle features at Vantage Shanghai magazine. I also take fashion editorial photos for our spreads, sometimes covers; and the occasional photo assignment in Shanghai.
